When do I need to see a psychiatrist versus a psychologist?
It's okay to see either one first. Therapists and psychiatric professionals generally work together and will guide you on the best approach for your condition. Evidence-based practice suggests that medication management and individual therapy together produce the best outcomes for most illnesses.

In case of an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. For urgent but non-life-threatening issues, contact our office or message your provider in your portal.

The frequency of follow-up visits is tailored to each individual based on the severity of your illness and the type of medications prescribed. Appointments can vary from monthly for controlled substances to every 3-4 months for other classes of medications if your condition is stable and controlled.
What payment options are available if I do not have insurance?
We accept credit/debit cards and offer payment options to accommodate patients without insurance coverage.
Can you provide refills for my prescriptions if needed?
In certain circumstances, refills may be provided upon request, but we recommend seeing your clinician for refill requests to ensure the safety and efficacy of medications. Contact our office a few days before your medication runs out for continuity of care.
What happens if my insurance does not cover a particular service?
If a service is not covered by your insurance, we will discuss alternative options to provide optimal treatment while considering cost-efficient methods.
How do I find out what my insurance will cover?
You can contact your insurance provider directly or our office can assist you in verifying your coverage before starting treatment.
What can I expect during my first visit?
During your first visit, you will undergo an initial assessment where we focus on the reason for your appointment, discuss your medical/psychiatric history, current symptoms, social circumstances, and treatment goals to develop a personalized treatment plan.
What mental health conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, dementia, as well as mental health conditions associated with neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury (TBI), Parkinson’s disease and more.
How do you handle billing and invoices?
Your invoice will be available via your Healow patient portal, and payments can be made online or by phone.
What is your policy on cancellations and missed appointments?
We ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Missed appointments or late cancellations may incur a fee.
